HFLI is currently developing an aligned elementary school model that includes a focus on Design Thinking as a process that leads to innovation. Just like Henry Ford Academy students at the middle and high school level, students in grades K-5 will engage in thought-provoking design challenges. A design challenge is an open-ended problem, creative idea or need that invites all students in a grade to work collaboratively to produce one or more innovative solutions.
These experiences will, over time, develop students’ understanding and ability to use Design Thinking processes, Design Thinking mindsets (ways of thinking) and Design Thinking dispositions (ways of being).
